Field Notes

Notes:

Bulb that's was spreading quite. For anyone that does know the name of this, would you suggest planting it in a border or does it multiply out of control like grape hyacinth?

One additional note, squill is a good example of a gardening/landscaping plant that has gone awry in North America. While an attractive species, it often escapes from cultivation and becomes an invasive species that crowds out native species. I wouldn't recommend planting it, but if you do try to contain it with bricks or timbers to keep it from spreading. Also check to see if it is allowed to be planted in your area.
I believe this is squill or Siberian squill (Scilla siberica). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberian_squill for more information.
