Field Notes

Notes:

Also known as Rothschild’s Mynah, Bali Myna, or Bali Mynah.
Indonesian name is Jalak Bali.
Critically endangered. Due to poaching on the Bali mainland the surviving population has dwindled to single figures. On some outlying islands where they are protected by the villagers numbers are now increasing following the release of some cage bred birds which immediately started to pair up with the locals and there are now over 100 on one island. We did not see any in Bali but have seen them in a few parks elsewhere.
