Field Notes

Description:

Small rail, with short yellow bill and black mask. Yellow sturdy legs with long toes. Gray face, chest and belly. Most of the back of the bird is brown, black and white marked. Flanks are grey and white barred. Crown is brown with dark line over the top.

Habitat:

Marsh

Notes:

This was spotted within 20 ft and one leg was injured. It was foraging on plants and stayed for 30min before it flew off into the reeds.
