Field Notes

Description:

Plant green- rosey brown. Capitulum stellate, terminal bud inconspicuous; Fascicles in groups of three: 2 spreading, 1 pendant; Stem deep purple-brown, cortical cells porose; stem leaves lingulate with apical notch/teeth, 1.5-2mm; Branch leaves with chlorophyllous cells exposed on inner leaf surface, hyaline cells many-pored.

Habitat:

Subalpine fen. The headwaters to Eagle Creek. Growing immediate to a mote. Associated species: S. squarrose.
