I did a little re-search for separating Dirce from Annulata. I am glad that before I only said "I would tend" to Dirce since it is definitely Annulata. If the third dark stripe is straight than it is Annulata.
There is only one criteria to separate Dirce from Annulata: The size of the first brown stripe on the forewing. Broad in Dirce and slim in Annulata. The problem in this case is, is the stripe slim or broad?? I can't tell for sure. Dirce is much more common as Annulata. So that's the reason why I tend to Colobura dirce. To be correct, there should only be Colobura sp. as ID.
Hi Matthew take a look... http://motyli.wz.cz/nymphal/coeini.htm
Looks like my spotting.... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7289918
I would also tend to Colobura dirce.
Some top designer, must surely have given, this butterfly its coat............hhahahahah. This butterfly certainly has an attitude of its own.
I have no idea, but if I were to name it I would call it a Zebra Butterfly. Then it probably has a real name.
