Field Notes

Description:

It looks nearly identical to Eleodes Obscurus, but on the wrong continent.
Glossy purple elytra, black thorax and head. Slow-moving, fairly large beetle.

Habitat:

It was found inside a coniferous forest in Guinea not far from a stream. It was just laying in a divet in the moist soil.

Notes:

The forest was planted by a western foreigner many years ago.
