Field Notes

Description:

Typically dark gray, brown or black on it's back but a lighter shade on the underside. Slender with a wide nose and long toes. Adult size usually falls between 5" to 7".

Habitat:

Damp lowland areas usually under stones, logs or leaf litter.

Notes:

Interbreeds with blue spotted salamanders creating two hybrid female only species.
