Field Notes

Description:

The dogwood is a deciduous shrub, growing up to 6m tall, with reddish shoots. It has oblong leaves with entire margin. The fruit is dark blue to black berry, growing in clusters, with red stems.

Habitat:

Found at lowlands of Geneva lake valley, in protected marshes at feet of Jura range.

Notes:

Berries are appreciated by birds and some mammals, but 'm not finding the info about their use in human consumption.
