Field Notes

Description:

When we caught it, it appeared almost black with some white spots, We brought him in for about 20 minutes or so to show the other kids and its color changed drastically.

Notes:

It was in grass heading towards the rain puddles and water near outside air conditioner and down spouts. Big trees near where it was... It was after we had storms all morning and it was still raining when we caught it.
The belly picture was taken right after he or she was caught and was still almost black in color. I had never noticed them changing before...lol

Ok, thanks.. I had originally thought it was a toad until I was trying to find out why it changed colors...lol Thank you for the info, I'll edit it.
There are many differences between your toad and a tree frog. The most noticeable differences are the paratoid glands (your toad has them, like most toads, and frogs do not have these), and a treefrog would have enlarged pads on each toe, your toad does not have those. Hope this helps for the future
