Field Notes

Description:

Bright pink flower with five petals that are produced in small clusters at the top of the stems.

Habitat:

Meadow at Bent of the River. Not native to the USA, but it does well in the wild.

It *is* Dianthus armeria (Deptford Pink)

Thanks Cammie and Dan...and thanks for letting me know about the leaves! I couldn't get close enough to tease the flower out of the surrounding vegetation and thought they went together! I replaced the photo though and will look into the flowers you mentioned :)
To me it looks a bit like a Carnation or Dianthus. Btw, the leaves you have in the second photo don't belong to this flower, those leaves are from Galium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galium
Looks like a species of wild phlox! Not sure which one specifically though.
