Beaked sea snake
Enhydrina schistosa
-5.53564, 123.759
Field Notes
Description:
Beaked seasnakes are highly venomous sea snakes that are commonly seen in mangroves.
Habitat:
Mangroves
Notes:
I encountered this snake pretty much on every snorkel I did in the Lahoa mangrove channels. This species appears less docile than the more commonly sighted banded sea crait. The seasnakes are part of the cobra family - but usually even more venomous then their land based cousins.
