this is a Stag { male). The spotting i have put up is all of females known as "Hinds" I believe . I saw a lot Chital in Ranthambore national park in india.

Interesting, I was thinking the same thing as lori.tas because the only deer I knew with spots as an adult was the fallow... didn't know there was a spotted deer in India! How cool, learn something new every day! And lovely shot too :)
Isn't this the spotted deer or chital? I saw loads of them in the national parks in India http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_deer
As far as I know, only Fallow deer have spots as adults. Which makes me think this is a herd introduced by the English.
