Field Notes

Description:

7 inches long. Lines aren't as well defined in older males, but the head is appropriately bright red-orange for breeding season. Head and body aren't stout enough to be Eumeces laticeps.

Habitat:

brushy, rocky hillside with lots of leaf litter and fallen twigs.

Notes:

Juveniles of this species have bright/cobalt blue tails.
