mm in length, distinct yellow and black dorsal and ventral markings

Habitat:

boneset flowers in a garden

Notes:

in web with two prey items, one was clearly a small irridescent dolichopodid fly which is very common on Boneset leave surfaces

This is actually a type of Sheetweb spider. We have them here on Long Island as well. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/22933027 Your images are a bit more close and clear than mine but you can see with the markings the similarities.
