Congratulations Elsa, this beauty is featured in the Project Noah blog today! http://blog.projectnoah.org/post/29412656676/species-spotlight-lively-lizards
Thanks for that 'traffic'-link Elsa... I'm sorry to have to confirm that the myth about the Tokay Gecko being able to cure things like asthma, even cancer - is believed here in the Philippines. And even if not everyone thinks that it's true, simply the fact that someone is willing to pay big bucks for body parts means that this creature's life is very much in danger here!
I'll take you up on that one! hehe
Maybe something for the rangers to discuss?!!!
Agree Karen! That is a pretty cool idea..
Elsa, I've just read your link - how sad. It would be fantastic if Project Noah could be used in some way to lobby against these terrible practices. A petitions function maybe?
Interesting (and sad) story about the Tokay-gecko: http://www.traffic.org/home/2011/11/16/tokay-gecko-trade-boom-in-south-east-asia.html
