Field Notes

Description:

Tropical shoaling predators associated with coral reefs and tropical sea worldwide. Larger individuals may live solitary. Barracuda are highly inquisitive and it is not uncommon that they swim with divers for the entire length of a dive. They are easily recognizable with their silvery colouration, pointy face and dark vertical stripes on the body.

Habitat:

Tropical marine environments, open ocean and coastal.

Notes:

The largest individuals in this group were up to 1 meter in lenght.
