Description:

Not an ant or a bee. Note the long connection between the thorax and the abdomen. Bright iridescent coloration on the back of the head and thorax.
The wings are shorter than the insect. Two antennae of medium length.

Habitat:

Open forest. This one had a particular interest in a tree. Looking for food?

Notes:

Flighty insect. Hard to take the photo since landings were short.
