Description:

The green heron is a fairly small heron with a body length of about 17 inches. Adults have a glossy black/green cap, chestnut colored breast, and orange legs. The bill is long and pointed.

Habitat:

Wetlands and ponds. I most often find these birds perched in trees or hunting around the edges of wetlands and ponds.
