How did you find stick insects in Lahad Datu? I always visit Lahad Datu but I have never seen a single Phasmida insect there.
More than likely, it's an insect in the order Phasmatodea, which includes the walking sticks and leaf insects.
Very interesting...they don't look like much else that I've seen before. To tell you the truth, it almost looks like a mantophasmid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantophasmatidae), but that seems highly unlikely. There are less than 8 known species, and so far those are only from Africa. Do you have any more pictures of this guy, or any more information at all?
