Field Notes

Description:

The blue-footed booby is a seabird that nests on islands in the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). This small island is near San Carlos, Mexico.

Habitat:

Uninhabited large rock sticking out of the Gulf of California. The white material is the guano excreted by these birds. They lay their eggs right on the guano-covered rock.

Notes:

Booby is another name for someone or something stupid. These birds aren't noted for their intelligence.
