Description:

Tiny honeyeater, only 11cm long. The adult male Scarlet Honeyeater is a vivid scarlet red and black bird with whitish underparts. The females and immature birds are dull brown with dull white underparts and a reddish wash on the chin.

Amazing finding one of these so close to the city!
I had no idea we had these here either Lori! It was just by luck that I was hiding from the rain under a tree and spotted a flash of red against the green leaves. Unfortunately not Gary - they stick to the east coast.
Wow. I didn't even know we had one of these.
