Field Notes

Description:

The caterpillar of the Large White Butterfly. About an inch and a half long with lots of yellow legs underneath which give it the appearance of gliding along on a cloud of yellow fluff. There is a yellow stripe running up the centre of its body, with white markings coming off this stripe.

Habitat:

Anywhere where is lots of young green leafy matter, especially young cabbage plants. I can remember my Dad always moaning about these when I was a child.
