Thanks George, it does look like Haplopelma robustum, but I'm not an arachnologist by any means. I appreciate the extra help in determining the species.

Agree with Lopez here. Chances are though it may turn out to be Haplopelma robustum in the end(not confirmed as of yet). I think the most qualified arachnologist in this regard will be a friend of mine, Stefan Phalagorn. He not only actively studies Ornithoctoninae but I am pretty sure he was one of the first to discover these.

Wow, that looks absolutely frightening. I would be terrified if I spotted this out in the woods. Pretty though.

Thanks Lopez, I've updated with your ID. So cool to see something not officially described. I've always wondered if some of my unidentified spottings were new to science or hardly known.

Hi, This is a Haplopelma sp."Bach Ma". These have not been officially described and catalogued, hence the inverted commas around the name. They've been in the tarantula hobby for some years (predominantly in Europe) but are seldom bred and rarely offered on the open market. A fantastic looking tarantula!
