Hi there, based on this animal's markings and its location (i.e. Cape Range National Park or nearby), I'd strongly suggest this animal is a black-flanked rock wallaby rather than a Rothschild's rock wallaby. Rothschild's do occur in the Pilbara but further north and inland than the North West Cape. Spent a bit of time working with these critters - this is one of the loveliest pics I've seen!

Put North WA on your List.. I stayed 4 weeks in the Exmouth region and it was not long enough!

nice shot.. is it a Rothschild's Rock-wallaby? it must be a wonderful part of the world? I have never made it that far north in WA (yet)
