Field Notes

Description:

Fast growing very large-leafed tree. It's an amazing survivor. Every year I cut it back to the root because it is too close to the house and heat pump. Every summer it grows back, strong as ever. It is surviving with almost no direct sunlight, and is growing in what is essentially a bed of rocks (French drain).

Never mind, the brochure I'm looking at apparently has a typo. I just looked it up in Sibley's. This is a tree I would like to see!
I think there's a typo in the scientific name...should it be Pawlonia tomentosa?
By me there is a mature tree of this, it's huge! But it houses many birds nests and lots of butterflies and bees get nectar from it.
