A herbaceous perennial plant growing from a corm. It is a highly variable species typically growing from 30 to 65 cm in height with three parted leaves and flowers contained in a spadix that is covered by a hood.

Habitat:

It is native to eastern North America, occurring in moist woodlands and thickets from Nova Scotia west to Minnesota, and south to southern Florida.

Notes:

I spotted a lot of Jack in the Pulpits in the Niagara Gorge, part of the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve.

Nicholas this type herbs are very common in Hill slope forests of tropical countries. This is a flower you are watching. Flower has separate erect branch.
Very unusual looking plant Dan.. Thanks for sharing. Nick
I have never seen them in Florida, but they may be here. Such a lovely variety. I was used to the simple green ones in Northern Inidana.
Thanks Dan great show.. I find these herbs with short life and during moist monsoon season here in India. I seen them at hills area.
