They're one of the Neophema genus that contains some of the most colorful and popular cage birds in Australia. It also includes the Orange bellied parrot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange-bellied_Parrot), which at fewer than 50 wild birds is one of the most endangered creatures on the planet.
