Description:

The Solomon's seal is a perennial flowering plant from the Asparagaceae family, spreading by rhizomes. It grows up to 1m in height, and sports an arching stem full of alternate leaves - leaves tend to point upwards, while tubular white flowers with green tips hang below - in autumn, these flowers are replaced by this dark blue fruits.

Habitat:

Eurasian species, often found on edges of forests growing in shadow, like here - along the path through protected lowland forest on slopes of Jura.

Notes:

Toxic in general, the Solomon's seal is known as a medicinal plant, being used in treatments of gout and rheumatism.
