Description:

Glossy, amber, assymetrical cap
White porous underside
Glossy, dark brown stalk
Very firm/tough

Habitat:

Forest in Middle Tennessee with mostly hemlocks in close proximity

Notes:

This is a polypore mushroom and is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine along with Ganderma lucidum or "Reishi". Ganoderma tsugae are commonly found on hemlocks or other conifers.
