Field Notes

Description:

Normally the early bird catches the worm, but this was early afternoon!

Beautiful small birds with dark plumage, speckled with light grey and yellow colors but dominated by dark blues and greens that were iridescent in the sun light.

Habitat:

Spotted on a grassy section of the Palatine ruins in the historic centre of Rome. Not too mindful of the many humans around, this bird kept a small distance and hopped about looking for food.
