Field Notes

Description:

This is a medium sized plover, some 25cm in length, presented here either juvenile or a bird in its winter plumage. It has a slender body and upright posture; and shows pale face with a short and rounded bill, and pale, slightly streaked underparts. Supercilium is also pale and well distinguished. It sports a golden sheen on brown back.

Habitat:

Observed wading foraging alone and trailed by a still unknown Charadrius, in a grassland at the beach-border near Cox's Bazar. The beach in question is at the bottom of hills of Himchari NP, and it is a part of that world-famous 120 Km of sandy beach.
