Description:

I have NEVER ONCE in my ENTIRE life EVER seen a snake THIS tiny. I was NOT prepared for this AND an eft in my backyard in THE SAME DAY within THREE HOURS OF EACH OTHER.
Ahem, geeking out aside, this snake couldn't have been more than a day old or less, and was about two inches long, perhaps a bit more. Checkerboard brown and lighter brown pattern on back that told me it wasn't a Northern Redbelly Snake, which I've been seeing a lot of lately.

(However it WAS close to a two to three foot long snake shed that didn't include the head or the thin part of the tail. I don't know if that was the mother but DANG that is a big snake.)

Habitat:

A pile of brush in a neighbor's garden. I was watering their garden since they were out of town and somehow despite the fact that the snake was the same color as the leaves and twigs, I saw the little guy slithering up there.

Notes:

Head was bigger than body.
