Hmm... I think you may be right, now that I look at it a second time.

Are you sure about that, Gordon? It looks more like a stinkbug to me.

This is a Leptoglossus (genus). Start on this page http://bugguide.net/node/view/245/bgimage?from=632 and work your way through the various species. I'm not sure you'll be able to narrow it down much more from the photo, but you may see something that will jar your memory. Let us know what you find out.
