Description:

The white eye-streak makes me think it's a Marsh Wren, but almost every picture I've found of those on the internet has the tail standing almost straight up. Any ideas?

Habitat:

North Pond, Chicago, IL

Gordon... it could be. I'm not seeing the white chin of the Carolina Wren though. The Marsh Wren has the same color chin and chest, like this guy. But the white eye stripe is more Carolina-like than Marsh-like. I don't suppose it could be some kind of hybrid? (Hey, you should see the ducks at this same location... clearly it's an 'any port in a storm' kind of thing there. ;)
Hmmmm.... I'm wondering if it isn't a Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus). It would be within the range of the Carolina wrens, although on the very northern edge. That longish tail doesn't look right for most of the other wrens and that significant eyebrow line looks like a Carolina. I'd suggest looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Wren and see if you agree.
looks like a marsh wren to me. Tail is usually up but can flit down.
