Field Notes

Description:

Young male of breeding size. Approximately 4.5 inches long. Dark gray with lighter gray paired spots along either side of the back. This individual was lacking the yellow color that normally fills those spot. It was also lighter colored than it fellow salamanders that were found that night.

Habitat:

Found on a rainy night on a wet, paved road in a rural region of southwest Virginia.
