Description:

Yellow shelled, with black spots, long antennae.

Notes:

We don't get very cold here, even in January, so we still have lots of bugs outdoors!

Yes Gordon Cucumber Beetle..
This is one of the leaf beetles, probably a spotted cucumber beetle (genus: Diabrotica, probably undecimpunctata), but the side of the beetle is fairly dark so I can't see all of the spots that I'd expect. See http://bugguide.net/node/view/180/bgimage?from=1152 and see if this looks like what you remember.
