Field Notes

Description:

S. crispa grows in a globe that is up to 24 in (61 cm) in diameter. The lobes are flat and curly, resembling lasagna noodles and they are colored white to creamy yellow

Habitat:

They are found growing on wood, usually conifers.It parasites on the roots or the trees of old types of pine.

Notes:

Spotted in a public garden in Porto city,under a big spruce.
First time i see one,it look like a brain,is a very bizarre formation

I think this one is edible :-) however the garden was not very clean and fungi are very polution absorvent species,they grab all the things of the environement,never eat mushroom picked near roads or in the citys,they act like sponges
wow ,Cauliflower mushroom is such an appropriate name. I cook Cauliflower a lot.

It parasites on the roots or the trees of old types of pine. We ave them in Sweden too :)
