Description:
Wapiti is an Indian word for "white," a reference to the light rump color of this deer. This one was spotted in the Grand Canyon. Short tail. Huge antlers in males, red-brown fur.
Habitat:
Mountain meadows, forested areas, lake shores, valleys, grassland edges in winter.
