Field Notes

Description:

Giant trumpet shaped flowers in a variety of colours - white, pink, orange and red; several striped varieties available.

Habitat:

Native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas from Argentina north to Mexico and in the Caribbean. Grows from bulbs, outdoors in temperate regions, indoors elsewhere.

Notes:

These plants are popularly but erroneously known and sold as Amaryllis. The tree in the background is a Bottlebrush tree (Callistemon)
