Description:

Another Costa Rican red-eyed frog on Noah, spotted here in the Corcovado National Park. This one has purple-striped flanks, and its toes are not orange, unlike those of Agalychnis callidryas.

Habitat:

Subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and intermittent freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Notes:

Don't have a frontal shot as it was spotted at night and I didn't want to flash the little guy straight in the eyes...

@Laura Maria, yes they are amazing! I am puzzled though... The Costa Rican INBio doesn't list Corcovado as part the the distribution area for Agalychnis saltator... http://darnis.inbio.ac.cr/FMPro?-DB=UBIpub.fp3&-lay=WebAll&-Format=/ubi/detail.html&-Op=bw&id=4183&-Find Maybe Jonathan can enlight us further?

Hi Jonathan! Indeed the frog was spotted on the grounds of the Corcovado Tent Lodge! The description in http://amphibiaweb.org/cgi/amphib_query?where-genus=Agalychnis&where-species=saltator also mentions purple flanks. I'll go with you ID. Thanks!

It looks to me like Agalychnis saltator I have seen then in the same area close to Corcovado Lodge Tent C amp, by La Leona Station....
