Field Notes

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Cyrestini; Cyrestis maenalis maenalis Erichson, 1834. I have used the pictures in Philippine Lepidoptera to identify my spotting and, fortunately, Wikipedia's picture of C. m. maenalis matches for additional confirmation. When I save the spotting, the link to PhiLep doesn't show in the "other site" box. So, I will show it here: https://philippinelepidopt.wixsite.com/butterflies/--------nymphalinae-…-

Habitat:

Spotted in foliage at the side of a narrow track. The area is sparsely populated and mostly covered by remnants of tropical forest.

Notes:

On Nov 30, when I posted this spotting, I mistakenly identified this specimen as Cyrestis maenalis rizali. Apologies to everyone. As you can see, I have now ammended it to C. m. maenalis.
