Leaf beetle
Paropsis marmorea
-37.7357, 145.27
Field Notes
Description:
A brown pitted leaf beetle with yellow spots. The red banding on the pronotum is unusual. The patterns seem intermediate between two species of aegrota and geographica.
Habitat:
On red box eucalypt tree.
Notes:
I believe P. aegrota has less spotting and no beading along the elytra
Paropsis marmorea has one lateral row of beading from the leading edge of the elytra and P. geographica has two, at least in part. Marmorea is more brightly colored with red pronotum and yellow hem and geographica is plain brown while aegrota is pale in the specimens I know of. .
