Field Notes

Description:

The Himalayan marmot is about the size of a large housecat, and lives in colonies. Closely related to the woodchuck, it has a yellowish brown to chocolate-brown coat with contrasting patches on its face and chest.

Habitat:

The Himalayan marmot is a marmot found in the Himalayan regions ranging in elevation from 3,000 m to 4,500 m, such as Ladakh in India, where I spotted it.
