Field Notes

Description:

This grows on a plant that is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet high. It's placed among another lower lying shrub The blooms are about 3 1/2 by 3 1/2. Flowers in the wet season as evidenced by the rain on the petals.

Habitat:

Sunny area among other plants in one of our better kept garden areas.

Notes:

Caught right after a rain.

To personalize that statement. Jennifer I took a look and a picture of the plant, flower and checked the leaves. Pliable not like leather. It does look like some type of Azalea, though. I am a native Oregononian and know the Coast plants fairly well. You're probably right.
I took another picture and the leaves were thin, soft and pliable, but I wouldn't say leathery. It's been a year since the first picture and they are in bloom in our Fall.
I'll check when I can since the plant is not far away.
Azalea of some sort. Are the leaves a bit leathery?
