I spotted this hiking in Short Hills Provincial park.

you're welcome. try to remember, i think i have maked a mistake. on the day i looked at the 2 picture where the stem where relativ dark, but on the 1 picture they more white. try to remembre- white (micaceus) or brownish (trucorum). i let it for you to decide, but as i said, i have maked maybe a mistake

thats definitly not a mycena fusco-ocula. this is the coprinellus micaceus (not the C. trucorum- different between those 2 is the stem-yours has an darker stem). and i had seen most of your mushroom spottings are called "mushroom". i will look in the next time at it. even it should be mostly american species i can eventually give you the right genus.
Thanks Nick. I don't see this species listed on Wiki but it does look like Mycena, so I'll take your word for it.
