Description:
This is an ephemere flowering herbaceous plant, dying away in summer and wintering in tubers - produces flowers of varying colours: white, mauve, violet... From the start, it was difficult to say if this would be Corydalis cava or C. solida, as they are very much alike - except for the form of bracts; which I just found out. C. cava, as seen in pics, shows a simple bract (leaf protecting the flower); while bracts of C. solida are digitate (Gosh, and I hate this word - they have finger-like lobes). Another difference is not visible one - tubers of C. cava are hollow; while C. solida are plein -
Habitat:
In shaded meadows of Geneva Botanical Garden.
Notes:
In old times, it seems that Fumewort was used as a sort of medicinal plant; but I'm failing to find the information on for what ailments it was used or how... However, as said above, tubers contain toxic alkaloids.
