Check out Gordon's link: I've been finding a lot of beetles like this ever since summer hit and they've been Phyllophaga. Pretty neat, I saw a few chewing on an oak tree in my yard.
Very well could be. We all discussed it before I posted and Japanese beetle was the consensus - but may very well be wrong because June bug was our other choice
Hmmm.... Are you sure this isn't a June bug? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllophaga_%28genus%29 Japanese beetles are a bright metallic green and rusty red wing covers with several white spots on the edge of the abdomen. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_beetle
Kind of blurry, so it's tough to tell, but it looks more like a May beetle (or June beetle...). The Japanese beetles are smaller and have furry patches on their abdomen. May beetles are attracted to lights in the early summer months and are a brownish color usually.
