Field Notes

Description:

Also known as the peewit because of its call. Its black and white appearance and round-winged shape in flight make it distinctive, even without its crest.

Habitat:

Coastal areas

Notes:

So surprised to see this near my home! Last week I spotted an oystercatcher here, now a lapwing. Exciting times! I found him on an exposed mudflat, I often see this lapwing when the tide is out.

Thanks Ashish! Yeah, this guy along with the gulls were pecking at the mud and pulling up really big worms!
Caught with real action. It must be hunting amphibious creatures from that marsh..
