Field Notes

Description:

about 6" wide

Habitat:

rainforest, native to Madagascar

Notes:

I spotted this moth on the wall of the guesthouse in Ranomafana National Park. The light of the cafe was the only light around for miles and every night many flying insects and moths gathered around it. This was seen at the same place as the spectacular Madagascan Moon Moth, which I posted earlier.

Thanks to Gordon and Reanna for the specific ID.
Might be a suraka silkmoth or madasgascar bullseye moth. Those might be one in the same, can't remember.
Very cool. It's probably one of the silkworm moths, but I don't know which one.
