Mourning dove

Parents should be around somewhere. Doves are doting parents. I had found a fledgling in a similar location.Since I was told that it would spend another week on the ground before flying off ,I took it to" Lindsay museum Of wild life." They treated him for an injured leg with antibiotics and then after a month released him back with another Dove in a reserve. To this day I am wondering if I made the right decision of picking up and taking him to the hospital. His parents waited for two full days for him to return. This year they did not build a nest in the same tree which was right next to a road. But chances of him surviving could have been like 40 % in that location what with cats and dogs and cars.

I think this is a young mourning dove (Zenaida macroura), not a turtle dove which is an old world dove. Probably why it isn't flying very well, still learning how.
